Wild Light- France Edition
France has been a wild adventure. I’ve visited many times before however, this experience was quite unique. After a few hours of research I decided to stay close to the area I was visiting rather than take the train to southern or western France for an overnight trip. Parc du Heron was only a few minutes away from my apartment I decided to see what I could within the city park gem.
As you enter the park you suddenly go from a semi busy city street to a canopy of trees where the songbirds are loudly singing. Amongst the songbirds I could hear a “kee-kee-kee”. I instantly grabbed for my phone as I recognized this was a unique bird call that was foreign to me. I found out that it was a Rose Ringed Parakeet. I knew in that moment that I wanted to capture the picture of this unique bird. I find it strange to imagine these tropical seeming birds in such a grey sky environment. It’s hot here now but the weather can be extremely rainy and grey in the fall and winter. There was a variety of less common birds and animals that I came across in my visit. I found a lot of the birds here were extremely small in size (some smaller than the palm of my hand).
Unfortunately my visit didn’t last forever and I wasn’t able to capture all of the photographs that I wanted. I know this isn’t my last visit so the journey goes on. I will be posting on the blog weekly (Tuesdays) so make sure to follow along for updates. Of course if any of these animals are one of your favorites I will also have prints available for purchase here. My next time in France I will be focused on photographing these lovely animals:

European GoldFinch
European Hedgehog
